Degree Courses in Hotel Management

Hospitality is a growing sector that offers a lot of growth and promise; a large number of avenues attract many students. Students looking to embark on a career in this field will have to begin with a full time course in a diploma, certificate or a degree course. Here are some of the more common degrees that you are most likely to find.

Courses duration:
This differs wherever you go, so if you are planning on enrolling for a bachelor’s degree, then you are probably looking at a time span of 3 to 4 years. The master’s degree is typically about 18 to 24 months while the certificate or diploma courses are normally for six to eighteen months- each depends on the number and complexity of the modules being covered.

Criteria for Eligibility
Diploma Courses: To apply for these courses, you will have to complete your 10th standard examination with at least 40% minimum from a recognized board.

Bachelor’s degree: For this course, you need to clear your 10th and 12th standard examination with a minimum of 50%.

Post Graduation: You need to complete both of the tests mentioned above and graduate from a bachelor’s stream with 45% as a minimum from a recognized board.

Certificate: You will need to complete the criteria that the offering college has listed out for their program.

When choosing the college, also check their websites for other qualifications and certifications; these should be things like the faculty and their expertise, the cost of the entire course along with hostel accommodations and other on campus facilities. See what other kind of incentives they offer like placements and training, they should also be a recognized college with the right accreditations like from authorizing boards.
